Privacy Policy
Hudava is built for one of the most personal parts of a person’s day. This policy explains, in plain language, what the app collects, why, who helps us process it, and how you stay in control.
Effective 2 October 2026
The short version
- You can read the Quran and listen to recitation without creating an account.
- Recordings of your recitation are transcribed and discarded. We never store the audio.
- We do not sell your personal information, show ads, or use advertising trackers.
- AI features send the text needed to answer you to a third-party AI service provider.
- Guests’ AI chats are not saved. Signed-in users choose whether chat history is kept.
- You can clear your AI data or delete your account from inside the app.
This summary is a guide. The full text below is what applies.
01
Who we are and what this covers
This Privacy Policy explains what information Hudava (“Hudava”, “we”, “us”) collects, how we use it and the choices you have. It applies to the Hudava: Learn Quran with AI mobile application for Android and iOS (application ID com.hudava.quran) and to the website at hudava.com.
By using Hudava you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the app. For any privacy question or request, write to privacy@hudava.com.
02
Information we collect
What we collect depends on how you use Hudava. As a guest, very little reaches our servers. When you create an account, we store what is needed to keep your learning in sync.
Account information
- Email sign-up: your email address, first and last name, country, and a password. The password is stored only in a securely hashed form; we cannot read it.
- Sign in with Google: your Google account identifier, name, email address, profile picture address and whether Google has verified your email. We do not receive your Google password.
- Profile details you add: for example gender, if you choose to set it.
Preferences
- App language, Quran translation language and optional secondary language.
- Learning focus and level chosen during onboarding, preferred reciter and audio settings.
- Your device’s time zone name (for example “Asia/Karachi”), so that daily Hifz goals and streaks follow your calendar day. We do not collect your location.
Learning data you create
- Bookmarks, with their folders and tags.
- Notes and reflections you write on ayahs or topics.
- Reading progress and reading history.
- Hifz plans, memorization progress, practice sessions, and mistakes — including which word was expected and which word was recognised in your recitation.
AI interactions
- The questions and messages you send to AI chat, to an ayah’s follow-up chat and to the support assistant.
- Search phrases you type, including natural-language searches.
- The replies generated for you. If you are signed in and have chat history turned on, the conversation is saved to your account. Otherwise it is not saved to any account.
Explanations that are the same for everyone — such as “Explain Simply” for a given ayah and language, or an AI summary for a tafsir search phrase — are cached so they need not be generated again. These cached entries are not linked to your account.
Voice recordings
When you use AI Check in the Hifz section, the app records your recitation through the microphone and sends the recording to our server, which passes it to our speech-to-text provider. The recording is used for that one transcription and is not stored by us, on disk or in any database. We keep only the result: the transcript, the accuracy score, and which words were correct, omitted or substituted.
Device and technical information
- Your device name or model, its platform (Android or iOS), and a random identifier the app generates on installation, used to manage your signed-in sessions.
- Standard server logs: IP address, time of the request, the request made, and technical details needed to diagnose errors. For AI Check, the log entry includes your account identifier and the transcript.
Purchases
If you subscribe to Plus or Pro, we receive the plan, billing period, price and currency, the store used, a store transaction identifier, and the status and renewal or expiry dates of the subscription. Payments are handled entirely by Apple or Google. We never receive or store your card number or other payment credentials.
Support messages
When you contact support or report an issue from the app, we store the subject and message you write together with your account’s email address.
This website
hudava.com is an informational website. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising scripts. As with any website, the hosting provider records standard access logs (such as IP address and pages requested) to keep the service secure and running.
03
Information kept only on your device
Some information never needs to leave your phone. The app stores the following locally:
- The Arabic text of the Quran, so it can be read without a connection.
- Your sign-in tokens, held in the device’s secure storage.
- Your last-read position, recent searches, display and language preferences, and a copy of your profile.
- Counters of how many times a limited feature has been used, to apply guest and free-plan limits.
Removing the app, or clearing its data in your device settings, deletes this information.
04
How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- Provide the app’s features and keep your bookmarks, notes, progress and history in your account.
- Show the Quran, tafsir and AI answers in the languages you have chosen.
- Work out your Hifz progress, daily goals and the ayahs that need revision.
- Answer your questions and generate explanations through the AI features.
- Recognise your subscription and unlock the features of your plan.
- Send essential emails: your verification code and password reset code.
- Respond to support requests and reports.
- Keep the service secure, prevent abuse, apply rate limits, and find and fix faults.
We do not use your information for advertising, we do not build advertising profiles, and we do not use your notes, chats or recitations to train AI models.
Where data protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on: performing our agreement with you (providing the app), your consent (for example, microphone access, which you can withdraw at any time), our legitimate interests in securing and improving the service, and compliance with legal obligations.
05
AI features and how they process your data
Hudava’s AI features are powered by AI models operated by third-party AI service providers. When you use an AI feature, our server sends the provider what is needed to produce the result:
- Chat and explanations: your question or message, recent turns of the conversation, and the Quran ayahs and tafsir passages our system retrieved to answer from.
- Search by meaning: your search phrase, which is converted into a numerical representation so that matching ayahs can be found.
- Safety checks: your message is checked by a moderation model so that harmful or unrelated requests can be declined.
- AI Check: the audio of your recitation, for transcription into text.
We do not send the AI provider your name, email address or account details with these requests. The provider processes this data on our behalf, solely to return the result to us.
07
Device permissions
- Microphone. Requested only when you first use AI Check, and used only while you are recording a recitation. You can refuse it and use every other part of the app, and you can withdraw it at any time in your device settings.
- Internet access. Needed to load translations, tafsir and audio, sync your account and use AI features.
Hudava does not request access to your location, contacts, camera, photos, calendar or other apps.
08
How long we keep information
- Account and learning data are kept for as long as your account exists, or until you delete the individual item.
- AI chat history is kept until you delete a conversation, clear your AI data or delete your account.
- Voice recordings are not kept at all. The results of an AI Check stay in your account until you clear your AI data or delete your account.
- Verification and password reset codes expire within minutes.
- Server logs are kept for a limited period for security and troubleshooting.
- Purchase records are kept for up to 7 years for financial record-keeping, tax and accounting obligations.
- After you delete your account, your email address is kept in a disabled form for up to 12 months for support, refund and payment-dispute questions, and then erased. Messages you sent to our support team are kept for up to 24 months.
Copies held in routine backups may persist for a limited time after deletion before they are overwritten.
09
Your choices and controls
You are in control of your information. Inside the app you can:
- Use Hudava as a guest, without an account.
- View and edit your profile at any time.
- Turn AI chat history on or off in Privacy Settings.
- Delete individual conversations, bookmarks and notes.
- Clear your AI data in Privacy Settings, which permanently deletes your saved AI chat sessions and your AI Check sessions and their recorded mistakes.
- Delete your account in Privacy Settings. See the next section for exactly what this does.
- Withdraw microphone permission in your device settings.
10
Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time from Privacy Settings in the app, or by emailing privacy@hudava.com from the address registered to the account. Step-by-step instructions are on the Delete your account page.
Deleted immediately
- AI chat sessions and every message in them
- Bookmarks, folders and tags
- Notes and reflections
- Reading progress and reading history
- Hifz plans, memorization progress, practice sessions and recorded mistakes
- Learning game history and download records
- Registered devices and saved preferences
- Email verification and password reset codes
- Your name, profile details, profile picture and Google sign-in link
All of your signed-in sessions are also ended, and the account can no longer be used to sign in. You can sign up again with the same email address at any time; this creates a new, empty account.
Retained after deletion
- Your email address, in a disabled form. No one can sign in with it. We keep it only to answer support, refund and payment-dispute questions, for up to 12 months after deletion, and then erase it. You can sign up again with the same email at any time; it will be a new, empty account.
- Subscription and transaction records. Kept for up to 7 years for financial record-keeping, tax and accounting, and for resolving billing or refund questions with the app stores. They are not linked to your name.
- Messages you sent to our support team. A record of the request and how it was handled, kept for up to 24 months.
If you would like the remaining account record erased as well, email privacy@hudava.com and we will remove it unless we are legally required to keep it.
11
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, the law may give you rights over your personal information, including the right to:
- Know what information we hold about you and receive a copy of it.
- Have inaccurate information corrected.
- Have your information deleted.
- Restrict or object to certain uses of your information.
- Receive your information in a portable format.
- Withdraw consent you have given, without affecting what was done before.
- Complain to your local data protection authority.
We offer these rights to all users, wherever they live. To make a request, email privacy@hudava.com from the address registered to your account. We may need to confirm your identity, and we aim to respond within 30 days. We will not treat you differently for exercising your rights.
12
How we protect information
- Communication between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit using HTTPS.
- Passwords are stored only in a securely hashed form.
- Sign-in tokens are kept in your device’s secure storage, and session tokens are stored on our servers only in hashed form.
- Access to user data is limited to what is needed to run and support the service.
- Your notes, bookmarks, chats and Hifz data can be reached only through your own signed-in account.
No system can be guaranteed completely secure. Please use a strong, unique password and keep your device protected. If we learn of a breach affecting your information, we will notify you as the law requires.
13
Children
Hudava is intended for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, or under the minimum age required in their country, without the consent of a parent or guardian. Younger learners may use the app as a guest, or with an account created and supervised by a parent or guardian.
If you believe a child has given us personal information without such consent, contact privacy@hudava.com and we will delete it.
14
International transfers
Hudava is used around the world, and the providers listed above operate in various countries, including the United States. Your information may therefore be processed outside the country where you live, in places whose data protection laws differ from yours. Where the law requires it, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
15
Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when our practices change, for example when a new feature processes information in a new way. The effective date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
